ABSTRACT: This study explores innovations in assessing teamwork skills in vocational programs, highlighting the importance of effective teamwork in professional environments. The objectives were to (1) identify current methods used to assess teamwork skills in vocational programs, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of innovative assessment techniques, and (3) propose strategies to implement these innovations in vocational education. A survey design was employed to collect data from students, educators, and industry professionals to gain comprehensive insights into assessment practices. The sample size comprised 180 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure relevant experience with teamwork in vocational settings. The case study focused on Lagos State, Nigeria, due to its diverse vocational education landscape. Findings revealed that traditional assessment methods were inadequate in measuring teamwork skills effectively. Innovative techniques such as peer evaluations, simulation-based assessments, and collaborative projects were found to be more effective. Recommendations included adopting a combination of innovative assessment methods, providing training for educators on new assessment techniques, and incorporating real-world team-based projects into the curriculum to better evaluate and enhance teamwork skills in vocational programs.
